Welcome to the Hyde family blog. Most of this blog’s content is dedicated to documenting and sharing our children’s activities and events. Occasionally we include other musings or happenstances. David
David was born and raised in Austin, Texas. After finishing high school, he attended college at Baylor University (Waco, Texas) studying and earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. David has worked 18 years in the engineering industry, from aerospace with Lockheed-Martin to industrial controls with Emerson. Today, David works as a Project Engineer at The Automation Group, an industrial controls engineering and design company owned by Emerson, overseeing all technical aspects of a project (i.e., electrical, instrumentation and controls) from conception through deployment.
David has played musical instruments most of his life and still remains an avid musician and songwriter. He enjoys playing acoustic guitar, piano and bass, and regularly helps lead worship at church. In his off time, he is a student of blogging, corporate Knowledge Management, Texas history, and enjoys gardening, baseball, and watching his kids perform in gymnastics and community theatre.
Lisa
Lisa was born in Boulder, Colorado and spent most of her growing years in Houston, Texas. She, too, attended Baylor University earning a B.S. in Education. After a year of teaching, Lisa and David met on the Baylor campus for a senior piano recital of a mutual friend. They wed a year later. Lisa continued to teach after moving to Austin until Rebecca was born. Since then, she has tirelessly and faithfully held the title of Operations Manager of the Household. While David’s work moved the family from Austin to Houston, it also brought Lisa “home,” closer to her parents and grandparents.
Lisa spends much of her time homeschooling their children and getting them to activities and events. Somehow, she is still able to find time to put food on the table and attend to the needs of family and friends. She enjoys reading, writing and sharing devotions, praying with friends, socializing and playing.
Rebecca
Rebecca finds tremendous joy in friendships, community theatre, musicals, and dancing. She is an avid reader, cell-phone talker, Facebook checker and a growing master of all things dramatic. When she is not studying or doing chores, you will undoubtedly find Rebecca in front of the computer or socializing with equally zany friends.
Justus
Justus is fascinated with how things fit together and work. He likes power tools and sports cars, science and mathematics. Justus spends most of his spare time in gymnastics at a junior Olympic training center, sometimes up to 24 hours per week. This type of schedule would be close to impossible without homeschooling. When he is not at the gym or doing handstands around the house, Justus likes bike riding, playing video games, throwing the baseball, and exploring the outdoors.
